2. októbra 2021 sa v bratislavskom Sade Janka Kráľa po šiestykrát uskutoční kultúrno- historický festival Bitka o Bratislavu.
Hlavnou časťou jeho programu bude rekonštrukcia vojenského stretu z obdobia prvej polovice 17. storočia zasadená do prostredia historického Uhorska.
Ako vždy sa môžte tešiť na historický tábor, ukážky dobového života, ukážky regimentov, dobový sprievod cez Staré Mesto a samozrejme na Bitku o Bratislavu – rekonštrukciu barokového vojenského stretu z roku 1621.
V tomto ročníku sa presunieme v čase do roku 1621 – pôjde o rekonštrukciu bitky, respektíve krátkeho obliehania, ktoré sa odohralo pred bránami mesta v auguste 1621.
Pred Uhorským korunovačným mestom už tretí rok za sebou rinčali zbrane – v roku 1619 ho prvýkrát dobylo vzbúrené sedmohradské knieža Gabriel Bethlen.
Rok na to sa ho neúspešne pokúšalo získať cisárske vojsko. Na jar roku 1621 však prešporskí mešťania, unavení svojvôľou povstalcov, nepriateľom sami otvorili brány, preto sa Bethlen rozhodol mesto získať späť.
Začiatkom augusta sa s pätnásťtisícovým vojskom pohol od Trnavy a mesto začal ostreľovať 14 delami.
Obrancovia však útoky na hradby úspešne odrážali a po čase im dokonca pomohli cisárske oddiely, ktoré z výhodných pozícii spoza Dunaja začali ostreľovať obliehateľov.
Bethlen sa napokon obliehania vzdal a so svojimi silami radšej vpadol na Moravu.

2. October 2021 will be the day when annual re- enactement of Battle for Bratislava will take place in famous Bratislava city park of Sad Janka Kráľa.
Battle for Bratislava is a historical and cultural event which focuses mainly on re- enactment of real local military event from 17 th century.
As usually you can expect the historical camp, presentation of the daily camp life in 17 th century, presentation of the regiments, a parade trough the Old City and of course the Battle of Bratislava – reenactment of a military encounter from 1621.
Compared to previous years we are again moving forward in historical timeline. This year we will be re- enactmenting battle – short siege of Bratislava which took place beneath city walls in August 1621.
War is going to take its toll on Pressburg 3 rd year in a row. Coronation town of Kingdom of Hungary was taken in 1619 by Gabriel Bethlen and his rebels.
Year later Emperor’s forces tried to take it back but failed. In spring of 1621 citizens of Pressburg, tired and disgusted by wilfulness of rebels, open gates of the city to the enemy.
Gabriel Bethlen reacts and sets a plan in motion to take Pressburg back. In beginning of August he moves with 15 000 men and 14 cannons from Trnava and lays siege to Pressburg.
Defenders stand firm and after some time they are joined by emperor’s forces, who took positions on the other bank of Donau and started firing on the besiegers.
Bethlen eventually breaks the siege and moves his force to Moravia.
